What Are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are thin, custom-made shells — typically about the thickness of a contact lens — bonded to the front surface of your teeth. They're designed to change the color, shape, size, or length of teeth, and when crafted and placed correctly, they're completely indistinguishable from natural enamel.

They're not a shortcut. Done properly, veneers require careful planning, precise preparation, and meticulous placement. The result lasts for years and looks natural in every lighting condition — not bright white at dinner, not grey in photos, just your best smile.

Who Performs Your Veneers Matters

Porcelain veneers are as much an art as they are a clinical procedure. The shade, the shape, the translucency, the way they catch the light — all of it is determined by the skill and eye of the dentist placing them.

At Venetian Pointe, veneers are performed by Dr. Justin E. Palmer. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry and was awarded the Alpha Omega Award — given to the #1 ranking student in his class of 117. He's recognized by Orlando Magazine as a Top Dentist, and his cosmetic patients consistently describe the results as “attention to every detail.”

One patient put it this way: “I have perfectly aligned, snow white teeth. Would give 10 stars.” Another said she tried multiple dentists before finding Dr. Palmer. That kind of result doesn't happen by accident.

What Porcelain Veneers Can Address

Veneers are one of the most versatile cosmetic procedures available. Patients come to us for veneers when they have:

  • Teeth that are stained or discolored and don't respond to whitening
  • Chipped, cracked, or worn-down teeth
  • Teeth that are slightly misaligned or uneven
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Teeth that are too small or misshapen
  • A smile that looks aged or asymmetrical

Veneers may not be the right solution for everyone.

Patients with significant bite issues or severe misalignment may need orthodontic treatment first. We'll tell you honestly what will and won't work for your situation.

The best place to start is a conversation with Dr. Palmer. Schedule a consultation and let's look at what's possible.

What the Veneer Process Looks Like

01

Consultation

We start with a full exam and a conversation about your goals. We'll assess your teeth, discuss candidacy, and talk through what the finished result will look like. No commitment at this stage.

02

Preparation

A small amount of enamel is removed from the front of the tooth to make room for the veneer. This is permanent, which is why candidacy and planning matter before we start. Temporary veneers are placed while your custom porcelain is being crafted at the lab.

03

Fabrication

Your veneers are custom-made to your specifications — color, shape, size — by a dental lab. Dr. Palmer works closely with the lab to ensure the result matches the plan.

04

Placement

When your veneers are ready, you come back in. Dr. Palmer checks the fit, shade, and bite before permanently bonding them in place. Any final adjustments are made at this appointment.

A natural-looking, durable smile that holds up for years with normal care.

Veneers vs. Crowns vs. Bonding — What's the Difference?

Veneers

Cover only the front surface of the tooth. Ideal for cosmetic changes when the underlying tooth is healthy.

Crowns

Cap the entire tooth. Used when a tooth is damaged, decayed, or needs structural support — not just cosmetic improvement.

Dental Bonding

Uses composite resin applied directly to the tooth. Faster and less expensive than veneers but less durable and less natural-looking over time. Good for minor repairs; veneers are better for significant cosmetic changes.

Not sure which is right for you? That's what the consultation is for. We'll look at your teeth and give you an honest answer.

In Their Words

What Our Veneer Patients Say

Dr. Palmer designed the veneers and crowns with attention to every detail. In the end, I have perfectly aligned, snow white teeth. Would give 10 stars.

ChattyCathy

I recently got veneers because whitening didn't work. The process was thorough and the result was exactly what I wanted.

Porcelain Veneers — Common Questions

Are veneers permanent?

The placement process is permanent because a small amount of enamel is removed. The veneers themselves typically last 10–15 years with proper care and can be replaced when needed.

Do veneers look fake?

Not when they're done well. The goal — and what Dr. Palmer consistently achieves — is a result that looks completely natural. Custom shading, proper translucency, and precise fit all contribute to how natural the final result looks.

Are veneers painful?

Most patients experience little to no discomfort during the process. Local anesthesia is used during the preparation appointment. Some sensitivity is normal in the days following, but it resolves quickly.

How do I care for veneers?

The same way you care for natural teeth — brushing, flossing, regular cleanings. Avoid biting into extremely hard foods with the veneer surfaces and wear a night guard if you grind your teeth.

How much do veneers cost in Orlando?

Cost varies depending on the number of veneers and the complexity of the case. We provide full pricing during your consultation. We accept most major insurance plans and offer flexible payment options including CareCredit.
